American sound Archives
We
are pleased to announce that American Sound Archives
is providing a service that should prove to be popular. The
Original Edison "Site Night" programs from the early to mid
1970's have been professionally transferred from the original
master tapes and are now available in CD format. This unique
series allows you to listen to, review and research historically
significant recordings, techniques, and artists that helped
shape and form the modern recording industry. Where available,
a copy of the original program sheets from the night of the
recording is included with the CD.
Also coming soon are
many of the other original programs produced by Merritt Sound
Recordings, all transferred to CD with sparkling crisp sound.

The "Hit of the Week" Collection 1929-1932: In
the early 1930's these one-sided cardboard discs were issued
weekly (on Thursday) and sold for fifteen cents at news stands.
Unfortunately, in the dark and early days of the Great Depression,
even fifteen cents was more than most people could afford and
the company went bankrupt in mid-1932. Spotlighted here are
eighteen recordings which represent the varied and unique quality
of this distinctive Company. Transferred from the Original Master
Tape from Merritt Sound Recordings onto One high-quality
CD. (Please Note: Some audio anomalies from the
original master tape remain in this program. They could not
be removed without compromising the integrity of the original
